2005 State Fair of Texas – 1st Place/Blue Ribbon

This is an ostrich egg that I decided to enter in the Decorated Egg category at the 2005 State Fair of Texas, in the non-professional adult division. I had never entered any of my work in a contest before. Imagine my surprise when I discovered I had won a blue ribbon! This egg was on display during the run of the Fair in October, in display case #64. I sanded this shell for over three hours before working on it in wax.
